Last night, my husband and I were completely exhausted. We crawled into bed, and he stated, “Our bed is so comfy, I am so thankful. God is good.”
And I replied, “Yes, lemons are good.”
My husband probably thought I was delirious with lack of sleep, he just smiled and pulled the covers tighter. But little does he realize that lemons are good and so is God.
The essence of God is goodness. He is loving, abundantly gracious and merciful. He heals, loves, restores and provides us exactly what we need. God is good.
Lemons are delicious with the right amount of seasoning and care. Lemons provide healing and restoration, they have vitamins and antioxidants, all good things for us. Lemons are good.
When life delivers us sour lemons, God is always there pouring on the sugar. Maybe not in the amount we desire but just the right amount to give us our blessings, to lead us into a better path or just simply to love us. When we love God, we see His goodness in everything. We see it in sickness, in health, in times of abundance, in times of hardships. We see the smallest blessings and we appreciate them. Our lemons are sweet even when they are bitter. We love God as he always loves us. We thank God by declaring, God is good! We also remember that God is good even when our lemonade is sour, because we remember God’s promise in
Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
I am thankful for all the things in my life; big, small, ugly and beautiful. I am thankful for my lemons, sweet or sour. And like my husband, I am thankful to have a warm bed to sleep in every night. I work with a lot of homeless people and I see their daily struggles (I see their lemons) and I also see the good things that they have (I see their lemonade). When the opportunity arises I try to share God’s love with them. I never truly know if my words leave an impact, but I do know God is working His good through them. Even if they don’t sleep on a comfy bed every night or feel very blessed, I know God has a plan for them. Their sugar is slowly being poured over their lemons.
Our life is how we perceive it, if only everyone could see that their life is actually a wonderful glass of thirst quenching delicious sweet lemonade, we would declare through all struggles and triumphs that God is good! God is good all the time!❤️🍋
